The Cardiff Canucks made the long trip to Kent on Saturday only to see their hopes of avenging an earlier defeat dashed by the Invicta Mustangs, falling 8-2 in a contest that concluded the season series between the two clubs.

The result marked the second loss to Invicta this season, following a 7-5 home defeat earlier in the campaign.

Playing with a depleted bench due to injuries, the Canucks found themselves on their heels early. Invicta jumped out to a commanding 4-1 lead in the opening period, setting the tone for what would prove to be a difficult evening for Cardiff. The second period offered no respite, with the Mustangs extending their advantage by two more goals while holding the Canucks off the scoresheet entirely.

The scoreline, however, told only part of the story. Cardiff outshot Invicta 47-36 on the night, generating chances but unable to solve the Mustangs' netminder with any consistency. The Canucks' depleted lineup showed flashes of the offensive capability that has defined better performances this season, but couldn't sustain the pressure needed to mount a comeback.

One bright spot for Cardiff was young Henry Stanley, who provided both goals in the losing effort, amid an otherwise challenging night for the visitors.

The third period saw Invicta add two more goals while Cardiff managed one in reply, closing out the 8-2 final scoreline, with Joe Tearall picking up man of the match honours.

With the season series against Invicta now complete, the Canucks turn their attention to a busy stretch of home fixtures heading into the Christmas period. Cardiff returns to home ice on December 14th to face the Lee Valley Lions, before hosting the Bristol Pitbulls in a highly anticipated local derby on December 21st. The home schedule continues into the new year with Milton Keynes visiting on January 4th.

Get your tickets now and come support the boys as they look to get back to winning ways on home ice.
